Retired dentist, Dr. Tom Williamson, performs the flat picking/lead guitar duties in The Fine Line Bluegrass Band. He also plays Scruggs and Crowe style banjo and bluegrass mandolin. He's just beginning to teach himself fiddle. He provides both lead vocals and harmonies.
Dr. Tom has been playing guitar for well over five decades and came to bluegrass from swing jazz and blues. If you listen carefully you might hear occasional jazz or blues influences in his playing. His bluegrass preferences tend to follow along traditional and "neo-traditional" lines. His bluegrass influences include Tony Rice, Kenny Smith, Bryan Sutton, Tim Stafford, Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, J. D. Crowe, Joe Mullins, Gaylon Harper, Adam Steffey, Alan Bibey, Doyle Lawson, Ricky Skaggs, Rhonda Vincent, and Bill Monroe among many others.
He has a bit of a quirky, down home, sense of humor and you can hear a bit of that both onstage and off. Dr. Tom gives all credit for his musical talent to The Lord Jesus Christ and dedicates all his performances to The Lord.
